Kazuo Ishiguro was awarded the highest literary honor, the Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday, 5 October and we couldn’t be happier because his novels are nothing less than enigmatic! If you haven’t read his books yet and don’t know which one to pick, here’s a list of his top 5 books:

It’s a great idea to start with this one if you are new to Kazuo Ishiguro books. The book is sure to keep you wanting to know what will happen next. It’s a likable book that might make you shed a few tears too. So be prepared just in case you are reading the book in public! A great read for those who love science fiction.
2.The Unconsoled

This one is 500 pages long and was published six years after he won the Booker Prize for The Remains of the Day. The book is about a touring musician, not as popular as his other books but it’s a great read,
3.The Remains of the Day

This book not only won him the Booker Prize but was also adapted into an award-winning film by the same name. The film starred Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson and was directed by James Ivory. it’s about a butler who sacrifices his body and soul to his job and realizes too late how misguided his loyalty was.
4.The Buried Giant

This book is a kind of a fantasy with a curse and a dragon. It is about an elderly couple Axl and Beatrice who try to piece together details of an offense committed against them. It’s a book that sees the worst in human nature.
5.When We Were Orphans

A nine-year-old English boy, Shanghai, is orphaned when his parents vanish under suspicious circumstances. He is sent to live in England, where he grows up to become a renowned detective and, 20 years later, returns to Shanghai. It’s a powerful book.
