Every two years Bengaluru sees the grand air show at the Yelahanka Air Force Station. The grand aviation show is organized by the Defence Exhibition Organisation, Ministry of Defence. Having had its inception in 1996, this year the magnificent and splendid event will start from 20 th February and continue till 24 th February. This breathtaking show of aviation boasts of being the largest aero show of Asia and the second largest in the world.

This time it will be filled with grandeur and splendor as the show will also host an exhibition with more than twenty two countries participating in it. There will also be a demonstration of technology by more than four hundred companies. Till now there have been three teams who have confirmed their participation in the aero show, and they are Indian Air Force’s fixed rotary wing and display teams, the Sarang and Surya Kirans and the Yakovlevs, who are an international team. This year’s show wll be extra special because Surya Kiran will be back for the awe inspiring show its nine aircraft formation.

Good news about this year’s show of sheer regality is that Sunita Williams will honor the event with her presence on the fourth day, that is, on 23rd February. Her presence will obviously be a great source of inspiration for the young children, and especially the girls who will be motivated to be a part of the aerospace industry and grow up to be someone as great as Sunita Williams, who is a NASA astronaut. So the entire show will not be about eminent people from the government and the business world.

This year will also be special because this year will be the first time that the show will host Drone Olympics and Young Adults’ Day on the second day of the show, that is, on 21st February.

You must make sure that you do not miss the air display for anything in the world, and make sure you take your kids along for the exhibition and also for the majestic and grand show of aviation. They are sure to enthralled by the beauty of the steel birds they see flying in the sky, and who knows, even they might develop and interest in all this and be a part of NASA someday when they grow up.

The beautiful orchestration of the pilots, displaying their skills in coordination, navigation, and synchronization is what makes the show worth the wait and that definitely is a treat to the eyes. The colored smoke left behind will not only remind you of that particular scene from the movie Rang De Basanti, but the splendid image of it will last you a lifetime.

You cannot afford to miss this spectacle so ensure that you are there with your family from 10am t0 12pm and then again from 2pm to 5pm. Cancel all your plans for the four days for partying and chilling can happen every day but this Aero show will grace your city only once in two years.
