Propose day and wedding has to be a big deal for everyone. After ages of going out, dating, and the blooming romance in a relationship, proposal day is that special day when you choose to ask your beloved to be with you forever. This special day is made worthy of remembrance by a very traditional way, however, it is that way which never gets old. The tradition is that, when you propose, you go down on your knees and ask to propose to your significant other with a ring, and hope and pray to all the gods in the vicinity that she says yes. You hope and pray that you live to tell this tale to your grandchildren.

Now, just wonder how familiar you are with the phrase “gone down the drain”? Something goes down the drain when something is wasted, and this proverb turned a bit too literal for a couple in New York. Like every other couple in love, the man in this couple decided to propose to his girlfriend. He chose New York’s Times Square to make the moment special, but it took a disastrous, albeit hilarious ending.

Just as the prince was about to make vows of love to his princess and propose to her to spend her life with him, all his hopes went down the drain because the engagement ring actually fell into a drain. The scene went from the man being on his knees first and then he went on scrambling on his hands and knees. Oh, the things we have to do in love.

The heartbroken couple took the help of New York Police Department after the man was stopped from climbing down the drain himself. The good news is that the police put all their heart and soul into this, for no one can go against the power of true love. The police department started their quest of this ring on Friday, but they gave up, yielding zero results. But they came back with equal determination on Saturday morning, and with the aid of broad daylight, they fished the ring out. The New York Police Department did not just stop there. The couple, who had left in a devastated state of mind without dropping in their names, was found out by the police, and the ring was handed over to them, as good as new.

It would be safe to say that had there not been the cupid like intervention of the extremely generous police, this couple would have had a very bad proposal day to take to their graves. Thankfully, the newly betrothed couple is now as happy and they can ever be. Such is the power of love that nothing actually goes down the drain.
