Meet Romeo, The Lonely Frog Who Has His Own Dating Profile

Romeo is single and looking for Juliet or he might soon become extinct!

This is no ordinary Romeo we’re talking about but this Romeo is an 11-year-old Bolivian water frog who is lonely and desperately looking for his Juliet!

Unfortunately, Romeo is the last of his species and hasn’t had a mate in ten years even though he has been practicing his mating call for years in his tank! The sad part is there may be no female frog alive for him to mate with.

After a failed effort to find a mate for him, a conservation group is trying to save Romeo’s species and to do so, they started a dating profile for him on Match.com. Sadly, many of the female and the male Bolivian water frog species perished due to the change in the environment.

The main purpose of the dating profile is to raise funds as well as raise awareness about the species, to help the species from becoming extinct. Romeo’s dating profile is a fun and interesting one. His relationship status is listed as Never Married, No Kids and under the Desiring Babies section, it says Definitely!

That’s not all Romeo also has a video in which he speaks with a Spanish accent, saying, “I am a pretty simple guy. I tend to keep to myself and love spending nights at home. I also love eating, then again who doesn’t? I bet you are wondering what a frog like me is doing in a place like this. Well, I am here to find my match. Just like you. Except my situation is little bit more urgent. If I don’t find that one special lady soon, my entire species will be gone as we know it. No pressure. So, if you believe in love and want to help an old frog out, please donate to my cause. Adios, amigos.”

Just in case Romeo fails to find a match, the conservationists are looking at cloning to keep his species alive. For all those who have loved watching/reading the story about the Frog Prince, this might just be your chance to date a frog! 🙂
