There is a reason the world is celebrating World Suicide Prevention Day today, and that is mainly because we all care.

It is possible that you are feeling absolutely alone and feel that no one is interested in listening to you. It could seem that you are always misunderstood or that things are not turning out the way you want them to be, or that people are judging you for the different choices that you make.

Feeling depression and getting thoughts of suicide often hit us hard, and you may be surprised to know that you are not really alone in this – a lot of people near you may also be battling the same issues.

If you feel no one is able to understand the signs of depression or suicidal tendencies that you are going through, and no one is coming up to help you, it’s absolutely alright to take it up for yourself and maybe do something like this, just for yourself.

Call Up Your Friend Now

Pick up the phone and call your friend and tell them you need to talk to them right now! If they are busy, tell them it’s very important, and that you need them right now the most. Once you talk, tell them you are serious, and this is not something for attention, and tell them to help you out.

Dial The Helplines

There are some very good helplines that you can access right away from any part of India. All you have to do is dial them from your phone and tell them what you are feeling and if there is a particular reason you are feeling this way, or if you are just feeling low. The best part about dialing these helplines is that they will listen to you with full attention and not be judgmental, and your personal details and contact will be absolutely confidential too.

Sit Down With Your Family

It is possible that your family thinks you are behaving in a weird way, but sometimes, all you have to do is tell them you are not feeling nice and they will be by your side. Ask them to sit down and listen to you. Tell them “I need you, I am not feeling nice about anything, I am feeling sad and depressed, I feel like hurting myself. Please help me.”

Take a break from your busy life and take out time only for yourself, doing whatever makes you feel happy. Don’t worry about work or anything else – for a change, keep yourself at top priority.
