Former Scissorhands Pahlaj Nihalani is crying foul since he’s on the other side of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) now. Nihalani who was the former CBFC chief was asked to resign from his position last August. Filmmaker and Adman Prasoon Joshi took over his post.

He’s now back to producing his films and is gearing up for the release of his upcoming production Rangeela Raja which has Govinda in the main lead. Nihalani gave a tough time to filmmakers during his tenure as the CBFC chief asking them to make unnecessary cuts and edits in their films. Looks like karma is playing its part in his case and now the CBFC has asked him to make around 20 cuts in Rangeela Raja! Nihalani has moved the Bombay High Court regarding the same.

Rangeela Raja also stars Shakti Kapoor, Digangana Suryavanshi, Mishika Chourasia, and Anupama Agnihotri and Nihalani and Govinda reunite again after almost 25 years. The two have earlier worked together in films like Shola Aur Shabnam, Ilzaam and Aankhen. The film which is set to release on 16 November, is said to be based on the controversial owner of Kingfisher Vijay Mallya played by Govinda.

Nihalani feels that this is a personal vendetta because he left many of the filmmakers angry while he was the chairperson at the CBFC. He feels that they are now taking out their frustrations on him! He further accused Prasoon of being biased and giving preference to Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan as the two of them are good friends.

Lets not forget that films like Badlapur, NH10, Jai Gangaajal, Udta Punjab, Baar Baar Dekho, Lipstick Under My Burkha, Indu Sarkar, Jab Harry Met Sejal etc. were some of the films that Nihalani gave a tough time to during release, while films like Great Grand Masti which was full of sick double meaning dialogues and humor was given a clean chit by him.

All we can say is that Nihalani (who was also nicknamed ‘Sanskari’ while he was a chief of CBFC) needs to grow up maybe? At the moment he almost sounds like a young schoolboy complaining to his teacher about his classmates! Mr. Nihalani without being in favor of anyone, I say what goes around comes around; the world is round after all!
