5 Pirates Movies We Love

It is said; “Sailors tell stories, pirates make legends”

All of us who have grown up watching films on pirates probably think that being a pirate was really cool, easy and fun, all they did was attack and loot ships, drink rum and make merry. Did you know that pirates too had rules and regulations, that all pirates were expected to follow? Breaking which they would be punished for things like stealing, fighting, lying etc. But all said and done, pirate movies were something we all enjoyed watching and still do. Here’s a list of some of our favorite pirate movies:

It was based on a true story and focused on Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips and the Somali pirate captain, Muse (Barkhad Abdi), who takes him hostage.

TREASURE ISLAND

This classic book has been adapted into a film a number of times but our favorite version which we also feel is closet to the book is the 1950 Disney version in which Robert Newton plays Long John Silver staging a mutiny. He develops a strong bond with a cabin boy named Jim Hawkins while sailing the seven seas in search of buried loot. It’s one of the best and timeless pirate flicks.

It’s being said that a new ‘hipper’ version of the film is in the planning this year. Ecosse Films is planning to remake Treasure Island and want it to be cool and sexier. However, the details and date of release are yet to be announced.

Swiss Family Robinson

The father and his two eldest sons Fritz and Ernst salvage as much as they can from the wreck including livestock, tools, and even an organ. The film is remembered for its inventive use of homemade gadgetry.
