Aksar 2 Movie Review: Fewer thrills, more kisses

Zareen Khan could give Emraan Hashmi a serious complex!

Aksar, the prequel to the recently released Aksar 2, was not very successful at the box office so it baffles me as to why a sequel? Anyways, it’s been made and released to and we’ve watched it. The film is an erotic thriller starring Zareen Khan, Gautam Rhode, Abhinav Shukla, Mohit Madaan and Lilette Dube.

So basically Aksar 2 is about how a whole lot of people are after the riches of a rich old woman, Dolly Khambatta (Lillete Dubey). It’s about how each one of the characters is scheming to be a part of her will. There is an investment banker who digs pretty women and is the most trusted by Dolly, a not so faithful man Friday, Bachchan Singh (Mohit Madaan), a lawyer who takes care of the women’s legal papers etc. (S Sreesanth) and of course a sexy seductive governess Sheena Roy (Zareen Khan). All of them
are a part of the conspiracy which makes the main plot of the film.

The first half of the film begins well with some well-thought moves and twists but post the interval the film starts dragging. It’s slow and at times predictable. Most of the song sequences have Zareen Khan draped in yards of chiffon in bright shades of pink, red etc. or silky satin wrapped all over her! The rest of her costumes too look like they’ve been bought straight out of the Lokhandwala market in Mumbai. While Lilette Dubey’s hairdo looks like she forgot to take off her wig from her theatrical performance! Lilette could have been given a get up that highlighted the sophisticated and classy lady that she is. Her costumes and get up were over dramatized and so were some of her dialogues.

There are actually more kissing scenes than thrills in Aksar 2. Though the actors have played their parts well, it’s the script that lacks the thrill of a thriller. It’s also because the pace is slow. The cinematography of the film is worth noting as the film has been shot stylishly. If only they had more attention to the script and costumes of the film, it would have made the film a pleasure to watch. The director has relied more on the steamy scenes and the numerous kisses!

Watch the film if you have no choice at all.
