With the number of talented actors and actresses that has been produced by Bollywood, it is only fair that they do get their fair share of recognition. The world of Bollywood has always welcomed and recognized true talent and honest labour has never really gone unrecognized in this world of glitz and glamour. On the surface, it may all seem to have been a cake walk for all the actors that we see on screen, but the reality is way too different and complicated than that. The struggle of any great actor to rise to prominence and fame is reflected in the movies, and it after years and years of hard work and perseverance that they get their deserved praise and accolades from the critics as well as the audience.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Awards is the highest form of honour and recognition that an Indian actor gets for the outstanding performance in the movies. Devika Rani, who is fondly remembered as the first lady of Indian cinema was the first recipient of this prestigious award, who received it at the 17th National Film Awards. There have been numerous other eminent personalities of Bollywood who have been conferred with this esteemed honour, and some of them are Raj Kapoor, who won the award in the year 1987, the melody maker, Lata Mangeshkar in the year 1989, and the extremely soulful and ever classic, Asha Bhonsle in the year 2000. In the 65th ceremonial year of the reputable and distinguished National Film Awards, it was the one and only Vinod Khanna, who took home this piece of sheer glory, fame, and respect.

Ranveer Singh – The One Who Remade History

It only seems like yesterday when we saw him first as a typical Delhi guy in his debut movie Band Baaja Baaraat. He made a special place in the hearts of his fans and there has been no looking back since then. Last year, the power packed Khilji won the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award as Best Actor for his fabulous performance in the movie Padmaavat. He was not only praised by the critics for his path breaking performance but his role as the demented Khliji won the hearts of the audience as well.

Aditi Rao Hydari – The Performance That Will Be Etched In Our Minds For Good

Aditi Rao Hydari added yet another feather to her hat as she won the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for the Best Leading Lady (critics) for her moving performance in Bhoomi. She portrayed the role of Sanjay Dutt’s daughter and the heart touching tale of father and daughter was praised by the critics and the audiences equally.

Simi Garewal – The Best Rendezvous With Fate

We all remember her beautiful face and an impeccable accent of English as she made her rendezvous with famous Bollywood stars in her talk show, Rendezvous With Simi Garewal. She has worked in great films like Mera Naam Joker with Raj Kapoor and Do Badan with Manoj Kumar. Last year saw this gorgeous and extremely talented woman win the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Liftetime Achievement, and our happiness knew no bounds for once again we realized that true talent is always welcomed here.

He is one of those very few talents who has never been enticed by commercial films. He has shown that Bollywood can work without the glamour as well. He is our very own Newton star, Rajkummar Rao, who won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Outstanding Performance in the Male Category.

Anushka Sharma – The Producer Of The Unconventional

We have surely been glued to the screens for each of the movies like NH10, Phillauri as well as Pari. So, quite deservedly, Anushka Sharma was awarded the award for the Pathbreaking producer of these excellent films.

Other than these, there were many other personalities of B town who won India this great pride by winning this prestigious award, including Shahid Kapoor, Kartik Aryan and Sanjay Dutt.

Aahana Kumra won the award for being the promising face of the year, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari won the award for the best director, and Tushar Kapoor won the esteemed award for the best comic role.

We are waiting with baited breath to catch the winners of this year, and we are sure that the prominent actors of Indian cinema will make us proud all over again.
