Biopics and historical period dramas are the in thing in Bollywood this year. We recently witnessed the trailer and the look of the Thugs Of Hindostan and now it’s Kangana Ranaut’s new look in Manikarnika that is making heads turn. Even though the audience has earlier loved her in her movie titled Queen where she plays a ‘badass’ young girl who has been dumped by her fiance, this is the first time Kangana plays an actual Queen!

Kangana is all set to bring the story of Rani Lakshmibai to the big screen with her upcoming historical drama Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi. While the expectations are quite high, on the set pictures are pretty much leaving the fans wanting for more. While many first look pictures of Kangana as Rani Laxmibai have been released earlier, Kangana is gearing up to release the teaser of the film later this week.

The movie has been in the midst of a controversy ever since Kangana stepped behind the camera to direct the patchwork, but now the film will finally be releasing and the first teaser is said to be out on 2 October. The makers released a new still of the film in which Kangana is seen as the warrior queen full bloodied up. The scene looks like an intense one where she is seen screaming on the field. It seems like an intense war sequence.

Kangana defines royal beauty in the red saree in Manikarnika

In the first look that was released earlier, Kangana was seen donned in a red saree and ceremonial jewelry. There is a Ganpati idol in the background which probably signifies the strength of the warrior. Kangana defines royal beauty.

In yet another image that was released earlier, she is seen wearing a green outfit with a sword in hand and a turban on her head. Kangana was earlier quoted saying, “I’m proud of this film, and portray a character who gives power and inspires. We put all our heart, blood and sweat to make this film.”

Directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, Manikarnika is slated to release on 25 January 2019.
