It’s unfortunate that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films have almost always met with some kind of misfortune. He is known for making the most lavish and detailed sets but unfortunately, there have been accidents and fires during the shoot or during the construction of most of his film sets. The most recent being the death of a painter, Mukesh Dakia who was working on the construction of the Padmavati set and lost his life when he fell from a height of 5 feet. This is not the first time that accidents like these have happened on Sanjay’s sets. There have been mishaps in almost all his film sets from Devdas, Black, Bajirao Mastani, Ram Leela including Padmavati
Devdas: Unit worker loses life, fire on set
In one of the most unfortunate accidents, a unit worker on the sets Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Devdas, died after his head got stuck in a huge stand-fan while another was seriously injured A storm sequence was to be shot for which two huge fans, were erected over wooden planks. the two workers who were part of the special effects team were standing on either side of the moving fan. suddenly, the plank on which the fan rested, tipped over and one was sucked in by it while the other got injured while trying to save him.
That’s not all, in another incident, the fire gutted down the sets of the film and all the props etc. being used for the film were burnt down. The film was said to be plagued with accidents ever since it went on the floors.
Black: Fire guts down set
During the shoot of his movie Black, that starred Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan another massive fire destroyed film equipment worth Rs. 200,000, while some workers were injured too.
Ram Leela: Lightman injured
On the sets of his film Ram Leela, a lightman lost his balance and fell from a height of nearly 42 to 45 feet, injuring his back and legs badly. Luckily he did not lose his life. Sanjay had to also stop the shoot of his film because the film’s cinematographer Ravi Varman met with an accident on the sets and was injured.
Bajirao Mastani: Ranveer Singh injured foot
This time it was the lead actor Ranveer Singh, who injured himself on the sets of the film while doing an action sequence.He fell off a horse during the shoot in Jaipur and was rushed to the hospital immediately, though he recovered soon and resumed shoot.
While it’s sad that so many mishaps have taken place in his sets, it makes us wonder in his sets are jinxed.
