Raid Movie Review: Ajay Devgn, Saurabh Shukla & 85 Year old Debutant Pushpa Steal The Show!

Raid is entertaining and also engrossing

An honest IT officer Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn) gets an anonymous tip about a corrupt political leader Tauji’s (Saurabh Shukla) illegal assets. Patnaik then plans to raid Tauji’s home to recover the hidden wealth and black money. That is what basically forms the story of Raid.

Sounds like any other political drama with corrupt politicians vs the good guys, isn’t it? But Raid is surprisingly entertaining and also engrossing.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and the film was inspired by a true life event, where an IT officer fought with courage and determination to expose the corruption of a corrupt politician.

Besides Ajay and Saurabh who totally steal the show, the film has many other interesting characters and one such character is an 85 year old lady, Pushpa Joshi who made her debut with this film. It’s difficult to believe that this is the very first time she has faced a camera! She has a natural flair for acting and adds on to the humor of the movie. She plays a badass dadi and you instantly fall in love with her!

Ajay Devgn rules every frame in Raid!

Ajay as the honest income tax officer has some powerful dialogues which he mouths subtly, yet strongly without going overboard! He rules every frame and his interactions and exchange of dialogues with Tauji are interesting.

Saurabh, on the other hand, is in full form! We’ve watched and loved him as Kallu Mama and now he plays the dreaded Tauji and chances are you might fall in love with all over again in Raid. His character and acting lifts the whole film up!

Ajay and Ileana’s chemistry as husband and wife in Raid is convincing

It’s nice to see a de-glammed Ileana D’Cruz play a dutiful wife to Ajay Devgn! Ajay and Ileana share a great on-screen chemistry.

The film moves fast and is enjoyable but the only part that I was not convinced about was the scene where the angry mob attacks and Ajay is shown sitting and staring at the photograph of his wife amidst all that chaos and there is a song playing in the background.

Raid gives us an exciting insight of how a surprise income tax raid is conducted!

Go watch Raid this weekend, it’s worth spending some bucks on this one!
