These Scenes From Bollywood Movies Will Give You Some Serious Karva Chauth Goals!

Karwa Chauth scenes are still a big hit with Bollywood buffs

Almost everyone, even those who don’t celebrate Karva Chauth are familiar with the festival, thanks to Bollywood movies! Karva Chauth is overly dramatised and glamorised and made to look “oh! so romantic!” in most of our Bollywood films.

I don’t understand what’s so romantic about staying hungry and thirsty all day? It’s a fast that is kept for that special man in your life, a fast that is mostly kept by married women for their husbands but as I said, thanks to all the romanticising by Bollywood films even unmarried girls these days doll up in red and fast either in the hope of finding a good husband or for their boyfriends!

For people like me who believe in karma, I’d say if it has to happen it will no matter what! After all didn’t the king of romance; Shah Rukkh Khan say, “Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kayanat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai,” which basically means what Paulo Kohelo said in the Alchemist; “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Though I do admit being a movie buff and totally filmy, I might have found this romantic too once upon a time, thanks again to its portrayal in Bollywood movies, until I came face to face with the bitter truth; the ‘kadwa sach!’ where I learnt that fasting and going thirsty is not as romantic as Bollywood films made it look like, your red saree and makeup do not stay intact the entire day when your stomach is craving food! By the end of the day, you feel like punching the man of your dreams while you impatiently wait for the moon to show up! The growling of your stomach is the only music you hear!!

But Bollywood has its way of influencing people even today! Bollywood movies go overboard with extravagant Karva Chauth celebrations, with songs and dancing. From the hero feeding the heroine her first bite after the fast, to the hero keeping a fast along with the heroine, Karwa Chauth scenes are still much loved by Bollywood buffs. Here are some of our favorite Karva Chauth scenes from Bollywood movies for Bollywood buffs.

It’s a heart-wrenching scene where the husband (Amitabh) and his wife(Hema Malini) are away from each other and they converse over the phone on Karva Chauth and Amitabh doesn’t eat or drink water till he speaks to her.
