Shubh Mangal Saavdhan – Exclusive Movie Review

5 reasons why you must watch Shubh Mangal Saavdhan

From the time the Shubh Mangal Saavdhan opens, it is a complete laugh riot. Full of witty dialogues, there is not one dull moment in this sweet, quirky romantic comedy. I walked into the cinemas expecting another Vicky Donor rip off but I was pleasantly mistaken. Even though we all knew that the film was about erectile dysfunction and knew what to expect, the film was fresh fun and relatable and so were all the characters in the film. I loved the film, even though some scenes in the second half had a few typical filmy moments. Here are some reasons why I think you should watch the film:

  1.  The first reason is because it has Bhumi and Ayushman paired together one more time and nobody else but the two of them could have pulled off the roles better. The two look every bit of the middle class Delhi family that the film tries to show. The chemistry between the two is magical and the film almost seems like it was written and made keeping the two of them in mind.
  2. It’s a must watch because Shubh Mangal Saavadhan has a story, something that sometimes even huge budget Bollywood films lack. It’s a basic simple story that deals with a problem which probably a lot of men in our country face, however, it is the way the story has been weaved that makes this film worth watching
  3. The absolutely believable characters, not only the main characters Mudit and Sugandha played by Ayushman and Bhumi, but each and every character in the film has not only been cast well but have put up a brilliant performance. A special mention especially to Seema Pahwa, who plays Bhumi’s mother and mouths some of the most hilarious dialogues so naturally as if she’s lived that life before. Anshul Chauhan who plays Bhumi’s best friend, Ginni is every bit of a typical Delhi girl too.
  4. The realistic locations and sets, the art director of the film needs a huge round of applause for the detailing of the sets. The believable damp walls, in Bhumi’s middle-class flat a young boy’s school bag hanging on the wall, an old router with wire hanging carelessly , the gaudily done up interiors of a slightly upper middle class Ayushman’s house is very relatable.
  5. The dialogues are well timed, not forced and so is the music of the film.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is an entertainer and is worth the watch so go catch the film this weekend!
