Guru Randhawa, the playback singer, lyricist and music composer from Punjab, is already a popular name in the Bollywood industry. He has created many successful pop songs that have been used in Bollywood movies recently. He debuted in Bollywood with the song “Suit” for the comedy-drama ‘Hindi Medium’, which was later reinvented as “Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani” in the comedy-drama “Tumhari Sulu”. His songs are in Punjabi, and exhibit themes of instant attraction and liveliness which make him very popular among the younger generation.

Here are five songs that were well-received by the audience, and have catapulted him to success:

“Ishare Tere” (2018) – The Recent Massive Hit

“Ishare Tere” is Randhawa’s recent hit, where he collaborated with “Dilbar” singer Dhvani Bhanushali to create a party anthem. The song is set in a nightclub, where Dhvani enjoys with her friends and is suddenly approached by Randhawa. Instead of only Radhawa trying to woo Dhvani, the lyrics consist of a banter between the male and female vocals as the characters flirt with each other. The video has crossed 57.5 million views on YouTube, coming a long way from its release on 24 July this year.

“High Rated Gabru” Also Used For Nawabzaade (2018)

This Punjabi pop song had topped the music charts when it was first released, thanks to its dance steps and music. Like most of other Guru Randhawa songs, “High Rated Gabru” is set in a glitzy nightclub, with Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor matching their steps to the lyrics. The song became the biggest sensation of 2017, and its popularity can be felt even today.

“Patola” The Wedding Song In Blackmail (2018)

“Patola” is yet another Punjabi song, this time set in the backdrop of a big fat Indian wedding. The song is about a ‘beautiful girl’, in case being Kriti Kulhari, describing the bride’s red bangles and beauty that make boys go crazy. Did you know, this song is actually the recreation of Randhawa’s “Patola” featuring Bohemia Ruheel way back in 2015?

“Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani” Used In Tumhari Sulu (2017)

“Ban Ja” is a simple love song with unconventional characters, where a husband asks his wife to be his queen. The offbeat lyrics gel perfectly with the cute pairing and romance between Vidya Balan and Manav Kaul. It was hugely popular among the audience, and has appreciated its contribution to the family movie.

“Suit” Used In Hindi Medium (2017)

With a Punjabi wedding in the background, Guru Randhawa describes the beauty of his woman in traditional Indian dressing. The video features the British singer Arjun, and Kritika Sobti in her desi beauty. “Suit” was one of the most popular songs at the time of its release, and we don’t wonder why.

Currently enjoying the limelight, Guru Randhwa will be next performing to “Aaja Ni Aaja” for the upcoming Punjabi movie ‘Mar Gaye Oye Loko’ and an untitled song in the horror-comedy “Stree”, to be released on 31 August this year.
