In news that came as a pleasant shock, Beyonce and Jay-Z unceremoniously dropped their new album this weekend. And to support it, they even released the lead single titled APES**T which has a music video that was shot in Paris’ famed Louvre museum. You can catch the song in the space down below, and as for the entire album, it’s called Everything is Love, and can be streamed on all major streaming platforms, including the free ones like Saavn and Gaana.
Beyonce and Jay-Z have together decided to be called The Carters. This new collaborative album of theirs is graced by additional vocals from Quavo and Offset of Migos, Ty Dolla Sign and even Pharrell. It’s a marvel how they have been able to keep this release a secret over all these months.
But Beyonce is known for such stuff. If you recall, back in December 2013, she had dropped her self-titled album without any advance notice. Fans went berserk on this move, and not surprisingly, the album turned out to be a massive hit. Since then, pulling off such a move came to be called ‘Pulling a Beyonce.’ So it’s safe to say that The Carters have pulled a Beyonce on us.
As you can see, the music video for APES**T has been shot in the renowned Louvre museum in Paris, which houses the original Mona Lisa among other great works of art. The process of achieving permission to hold a shoot at this location is not exactly easy. Beyonce and Jay-Z have visited the Louvre four times in the last ten years. And during their last visit, they had apparently proposed to the museum their idea for a video.
This was in May this year, and they apparently decided to shoot immediately. This explains Beyonce’s absence from this year’s MET Gala. Also worth appreciating is the fact that all this has been kept a secret despite it being such a high-profile affair. In this day and age, keeping such a big secret seems like a pretty hard job to do. APES**T has been shot beautifully, and features prominent paintings from big yesteryear artists. The entire video has been choreographed to perfection.
