The trailer of 102 Not Out had managed to delight everyone when it was released a few weeks ago. And now, a new song called Badumbaaa from the upcoming film is grabbing all the attention. This one has been sung by the two lead actors of the film, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, and more importantly, has been composed by Big B himself.
The lyrics of Badumbaaa have been written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and they are quirky and charming in equal measure. This is a song that’s high on energy. It’s about Big B’s character trying to convince Rishi’s character to have some fun in life, rather than being a “thakela pakela insaan.”
Badumbaaa is a very simple and straightforward song which wouldn’t have worked at all, had Amitabh’s voice not been in it. The music of this track is extremely drab, but it’s Big B’s inimitable voice that gives it the flair it commands.
Rishi Kapoor also gets to sing a verse, and makes the most of it. Don’t expect a breakthrough singing performance here, but the way both these actors have adopted their characters while singing their lines is really interesting.
Coming to the music video of Badumbaa, it’s a festive extravaganza. The way both the actors, playing extremely old characters, are seen dancing along with young girls is quite delightful. The choreography on this song has been beautifully set.
Another track from the film 201 Not Out that was released a while ago is Bachche Ki Jaan. Sung by Arijit Singh, it has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman. Surprisingly, this is the only other song apart from Badumbaaa that has been released till now.
201 Not Out is a comedy-drama film that has been directed by Umesh Shukla of the OMG: Oh My God! fame. Like that film, this one too is based on a Gujarati play. The film has been written by Saumya Joshi who is also the original writer of the play. It has Amitabh Bachchan donning the role of a 102-year-old man trying to break the record for being the oldest living person in the world. The other star of the film is Rishi Kapoor who plays his 75-year-old son.
