Fakira is the name of the newest song from the soundtrack of upcoming film Student of the Year 2 to have been released in video form. This track was available on streaming platforms for the past few days. The video has been pictured on Tiger Shroff and Ananya Panday, and shows them having romantic moments while practicing graceful dance steps. A highlight of Fakira is that it has been sung by Sanam Puri, who is making a comeback into Bollywood after a long time.

Fakira is a duet, which also has Neeti Mohan providing vocals for it. The song has been presented as a softly sung love ballad, the chorus of which, goes, “Tu pooch nahiyo haal fakira da.” The lyrics by Anvita Dutt try to describe the pleasant dilemmas of those who fall in love for the first time. The lines, “Teri galiyan aise naapun, aur pukarun tujhko. Kahein awara mujhko, badnaam hua hoon ab to” are a good example of this.

The composition by Vishal-Shekhar isn’t what we’d call excellent. This one will definitely stay on the charts for a long time, but it’s mainly due to the fan following of the stars involved. As a song itself, it doesn’t evoke as much romance as an Ishq Wala Love or a Dil Diyaan Gallan does. Fakira’s video was apparently shot at 32 different locations, which included Mussoorie, Dehradun and Hrishikesh.

Student of the Year 2 is a sequel to the 2012 film that acted as a launch vehicle for Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. This new film will be launching Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday, while Tiger Shroff will be seen playing the male lead. The film’s soundtrack, composed entirely by Vishal and Shekhar, comprises of 6 tracks, all of which are available for listening on music streaming platforms.

Student of the Year 2 will be released on May 10 this year.
