Here’s Why Remixes Of Popular Bollywood Songs Suck!

Bollywood Remixes that Have Ruined the Popular Original Songs

It is said one man’s noise, another man’s music and vice versa. Well, what else can reinforce this fact better than remixes of old songs? If you are a music buff who spent most of his/her life listening to Bollywood classics, we bet half of your playlist is completely ruined by the remixed versions in this past couple of years. Covers are different as they have a tinge of originality and individuality. But some remixes have recently destroyed some epic songs of Bollywood altogether. Ridiculous lyrics replaced the mellifluous poetry and the melodies were distorted greatly by raps and “dhin chak” beats.

Tamma Tamma again from Badrinath ki Dulhaniya

The original version Tamma Tamma loge from the movie Thanedaar was fascinating and brings back sweet childhood memories Bappi da’s music, the beats and the very funky and quirky dance moves many of which mirrored Michael Jackson’s.

However, the reprised version from Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya not just ruined the dance sequence but also the entire song. When Badshah’s rap goes – “Tere mere beech mein jo koi bhi aaya, Uski laga du lanka” I actually feel like hitting him!

Humma Humma from Ok Jaanu

The original was composed by A R Rahman from the movie Bombay. I remember singing “humma humma” as a child for the sheer fun of the words. And that nostalgia gets killed now!

Whats with the “Humma Humma” after every line at the beginning in the remake?Shraddha and Aditya Roy Kapoor’s dance killed the tune of the song as did Badshah’s pointless rap. “Mat tadpa aise tu, Na kar na-insaafi, Jo galti karne wala hun main uske liye, Pehle se hi maangta hun maafi “… Could someone ask him to stop?

Laila main Laila from Raees

The original Laila o Laila was from the movie Qurbani and features Zeenat Aman in a flawless white dress grooving to its beats.

The remix features Sunny Leone and the array of EDM incorporations into this has completely ruined it to bits and pieces.

Dheere Dheere se music video

This song sung originally by Kumar Sanu for the movie Aashiqui was completely destroyed by Yo Yo Honey Singh.

The music video features Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor and Honey Singh’s rap starts with – “Teri Meri story jaise Big Bang Theory”… Like seriously, what else do you expect? Someone hand the man a physics book, please!

These are just a few examples. Dum maro dum remix in the movie Dum Maro Dum is a clutter-house of nonsensical EDM and auto tunes that does little justice to the trace culture for which the original was intended. Then there are remixed songs like Kaala chashma (Baar Baar Dekho), Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta (Janbaaz)and the list goes on.

Remixes are okay when you do justice to the original song. But sadly, we are far from that these days!
