After getting us excited about it with its trailer, Judgementall Hai Kya has just had its first song released in the form of ‘The Wakhra Song.’ Yes, it’s a recreation of Navv Inder’s massive hit, ‘Wakhra Swag,’ but with a few twists. The new composition has been treated more like an EDM track, and has even been turned into a duet, with Navv Inder joining forces with Lisa Mishra this time. Moreover, it also features a rap portion, which has been rendered by Raja Kumari. The new version has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi.

The music video of this track is live now on the Zee Music Company YouTube channel, and of course, features the two leads of the film, Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao. It looks mostly like a video made purely for promotions. It has Kangana dressed up in over-the-top outfits, even as she argues with Rajkummar over who has the more ‘wakhra’ swag.

The iconic opening lyrics of the original song have been retained. They go, “Ki ae Gucci, Armani, pichhe roldi jawani, check kardi brand’an wale tag ni. Aaja dassan tainu sohniye, ni fashion ki hunda, tere yaar da ton wakhra swag ni.” But the further lines have been interrupted to add a new stanza for Kangana’s character. It goes, “Ho mera suit Patiyala, kitnon ko maar daala, haan Punjab di main kudi sardarni. Jutti meri haigi kaim, saare kattdi hai vehm, tere ton vi zyada wakhra swag ni.” That’s where the beat drops to make way for the chorus.

Navv Inder has maintained the same charisma that he had exuded through his singing in the original. Lisa Mishra, who sings the female portions has impressed as well. The rap by Raja Kumari, although well written and performed, doesn’t fit into the song very well. For everything else, Tanishk Bagchi deserves credit.

Judgementall Hai Kya’s second song is also going to be a remake. Tanishk Bagchi will be recreating Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Bardaasht Nahin Kar Sakta’ from the 2002 film Humraaz.
