It seems like the world of Punjabi music is emulating the styles of Bollywood and the flavors of Hollywood. And by mixing these two what they are presenting to the audience is a song like Karde Haan by Akhil, the Punjabi singer who rose to fame and glory by lending his voice to songs like Khaab, Life, and Gaani.
His new song Karde Haan was released on 1st February, and it is obvious from the three million views that the song boasts of on YouTube, this Punjabi munda has garnered immense fan following in the Punjabi music industry. The very pretty Muskaan Sethi will be paired with the songster in this happening Punjabi number and she will play the role of Akhil’s love interest in the video.
Presented to you by Crown Records, the video, at first glance, soothes your eyes with an idyllic view of a serene city. And then, like any other posh Bollywood movie, we have our hero coming into the scene in a posh black car. He looks like a popular singer, who by just standing in front of the microphone attracts a lot of attention, with musicians ready with their instruments. Just as he was about it, he attracts the attention of the love of his life, Muskaan Sethi, who seems to be absolutely floored by this charming man’s charming choice of glasses, his questionable choice of hair cut, but definitely, his impeccable voice.
After a bit of shy small talk, Muskaan bids him goodbye by shaking his hands, and the hero, like a cute chocolate boy, is left smiling to himself while he keeps staring at his hand, relishing the touch of his lady love. Another signature Bollywood move in this otherwise nice Punjabi track is that our very own Akhil seems to hallucinating, he is so deeply in love. He mistakes another girl for Muskaan, which is a common scene in most romantic comedies.
Akhil has also penned the lyrics of the song, and Manni Sandhu has given the music of the song. With a very common story of love between Akhil and Muskaan and a clumsy dance move between the two, what we cannot deny is that the song indeed has some good music. You will not feel like dancing to it, but it is that kind of music that will stay with you for quite some time. And if you have been thinking of persuading your lady love for something, then you might want to rely on Akhil for the carefully chosen lyrics of the song can floor most girls.
The beverage sharing sequence is also something which is very cheesy, but it is something we all can relate to. Sharing the same glass with your partner has been the classic way of expressing your love, and Muskaan seems to have finally responded to the calls of “karde haan”.
Despite some boring parts in the video, this song does have a lot of potential. Otherwise, it would not have been a great hit within just a day of its release.
