Shirley Setia and Guranazar recently collaborated on a song called Koi Vi Nahi which also has a music video featuring both the singers. Speed Records released this video during the start of April, and it has managed to grab a whopping 25 million views till date. This song has been composed by Rajat Nagpal.

Koi Vi Nahi is an out and out romantic duet which has the couple saying to each that other that they have no one other than each other in their lives. The well directed music video featuring both the singers has some dreamy sequences set in a college. It’s worth mentioning that Shirley’s acting talent is on full display here, and may convince a director or two that she is capable of handling long roles.

Anyway, coming back to the song, it has a melancholic feel to it from start to end. Although the whistling at the start sounds a bit shrill and could have been much better, the rest of the song features a nice blend of traditional musical instruments and pleasing electronic sounds.

Rajat Nagpal has proved his worth time and again with hit Punjabi songs, and Koi Vi Nahi is no different. He was the composed behind Ban Ja Rani which was one of the biggest hits of last year. The extremely revered Suit Suit song was also composed by him, moreover. As you can see, Guru Randhawa has been a frequent collaborator with him.

The lyrics for this track have been penned by Gurnazar, and we have to say, they have indeed left us impressed. There’s a distinct Punjabi flavour to them, and they manage to convey the romance in this duet very effectively. “Je pyaas lagegi tainu, main ban jaawanga paani. Jo padh ke tu khush hove, main ban ju ohi kahaani” are the lines that grabbed my attention the most.

The chorus too has been thoughtfully written, with the lines “Tu aivein russeya na kar meri sohniye. Aivein russeya na kar meri heeriye. Ke tere baajon koi vi nahi mera” successfully blending with the rest of the verses. Overall, the song comes off as a rather well worked out attempt at creating a duet with the two singers at the helm.
