Third time's not the charm

The Race 3 soundtrack is slowly being pushed out into the open, and the latest song from it is Allah Duhai Hai. That name will of course sound familiar, as this track is an iteration of a song that had debuted with the original Race film. This one has been composed by JAM8, which is Pritam’s very own platform aimed at nurturing and honing new musical talent.

This time, the song has been sung by Amit Mishra, Jonita Gandhi & Sreerama Chandra. Moreover, a rap portion has also been added to it by Raja Kumari, which is present in the full song, but not in the video version we’ve embedded in the space down below. While this rap has been written by Kumari herself, the rest of the song’s lyrics have been penned by Shabbir Ahmed and Shloke Lal.

The lyrics are a mishmash of Hindi and Punjabi, and there’s one particular line that is sure to have you confused as to what the entire point of it is. The line goes “Nasha tera nasheela hai.” Well if inebriation is not inebriating, then what’s the point of its existence? Perhaps the lyricists want to give us a lesson on what “nasha” actually is.

The song’s video features all members of the main cast. Salman Khan is of course grabbing all the limelight by singing all the male lines. Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Saqib Saleem can only be seen making appearances. Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah mouth the female lines and put up spectacular dance performances.

This version of Allah Duhai is the weakest one of them all. It doesn’t exactly look to create a mood with its music. Giving a catchy tune to the lyrics seems to have been the only concern. This is why the music doesn’t work its way into your memory.

This third instalment to the Race franchise will be released on the upcoming Eid, just like most of Salman Khan’s films. While the first two films were directed by the duo of Abbas and Mustan, this one is being helmed by choreographer turned director, Remo D’Souza.

Eid falls on June 15 this year, and that’s the date on which Race 3 will be seen hitting theatres all over India.
