Selfish Song Review: Atif Aslam’s Signature Romantic Number For Race 3

Director Remo D’Souza and Salman Khan have just released their second song “Selfish” from the action franchise ‘Race 3’. “Heeriye” was the first song to be released from the album, and it is a groovy party number, shot in a nightclub, but the second song is a complete contrast to its name. The teaser of selfish had already created a trend on YouTube and the full song just released was something fans were eagerly waiting for.

Filmed amidst lovely backdrops, certain portions of the music video give us glimpses of lovely snowcapped mountains where we see Salman and Jacqueline romancing each other and we are sort of reminded of the “Dil Diyan Gallan” scenes from Tiger Zinda Hai. In between we also see Jacqueline romancing Bobby Deol amidst rugged and barren mountains and each of their costumes have been brilliantly matched and contrasted with the backdrops.

The vocals of the song have been lent by the well-loved singer Atif Aslam and debutante Iulia Vantur. Atif’s voice as always tugs a chord in your heart with his romantic appeal and the music is equally soothing yet unique. Debutante singer Iulia Vantur’s voice is fresh and powerful, with a hint of accent and she has done playback for Daisy Shah and Jacqueline in the song. Daisy Shah looks strikingly hot as she is once seen performing the song and then doing some brave stunts on another instance.

Believe it or not, Salman Khan has turned lyricist for his latest song, where he had just penned down some lines keeping in mind the storyline of the movie. The music director Vishal Mehra heard the song and decided to add music to the lyrics, to depict the characters’ selfishness in the movie. Posting the full video, Salman Khan has officially announced the release of the song sometime ago on his twitter handle. Aslam has also sung popular romantic numbers “Pehli Nazar” and “Beintehaan” opposite Sunidhi Chauhan for the previous installments of the movie series, and if you loved the other two, I’m sure, this one will also have a special place in your heart.

As always with Salman Khan’s movies, ‘Race 3’ will see an Eid release on 15th June, 2018.
