It has now been confirmed that Kabir Khan’s high-profile sports drama will have its music duties being handled by Pritam. The ace music director expressed his excitement today to be working with the film’s lead actor, Ranveer Singh who plays the role of Kapil Dev in it. The film is apparently yet to begin its principal photography, but its release date has already announced to be April 10, 2020.

Pritam and Ranveer tweeted this announcement at the same time via their respective handles. Their tweets also contained a photo of them and Kabir Khan smiling for the camera while in a recording studio. “My first film with the powerhouse Ranveer and I’m so glad to be back with Kabir Khan! Super thrilled to be creating music that can match their level of madness,” read Pritam’s tweet.

Ranveer’s tweet, on the other hand, read, “We got an all-star. Pritamda, it’s an honour to be collaborating with you on ’83’. Let’s make an anthem! Let’s make it iconic.” No further details about this anthem have been provided by either of the two, but we guess Ranveer was referring to the film’s soundtrack as a whole.

Pritam has worked with Kabir Khan on films like New York, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Phantom and Tubelight. However, it’s quite surprising that the composer has never shared a credit slate with Ranveer Singh, even after all these years.

’83 tells the story of India’s first ever Cricket World Cup triumph in England. Apart from directing it, Kabir Khan is also producing the film along with Madhu Mantena and Vishnu Induri. Tahir Raj Bhasin will be seen donning the role of Sunil Gavaskar, while Ammy Virk will be playing Balwinder Sandhu. YouTuber Sahil Khattar will play Syed Kirmani, while Jatin Sarna will play Yashpal Sharma. Other actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Harrdy Sandhu, Adinath Kothare and Jiiva will also be see in crucial roles.

The release of ’83 is still very far away, hence there’s no point in assuming the April 10, 2020 date to be the final release date. Big movies like these are being postponed a lot these days, so it would be no surprise if ’83 suffers the same fate too.
