The success of Ritviz’s Udd Gaye, released late last year, has been nothing short of phenomenal. It has proved to us that good music will ensure that no genre is left untouched by mainstream audiences. And he is aged just 22, which gives you an idea of just how immense his talent is. Just last week, he released his follow-up to Udd Gaye, which is called Jeet.
This song resides in the same zone that Udd Gaye comes from. It blends Indian classical with electronic music, and has raw Hindi lyrics to emphasize its point. But it must be said, the lyrics of Jeet manage to make little sense here. Things go great during the first few stanzas, but the lines “Sehni hume saza hai. Hum hai bazaaro ke. Sab ki nazar yahan hai. Har cheez raaz hai” fail to find any cohesion with the rest of the song.
The lines, “Ab hai jo hai wo sama hai. Tum reh sake toh raba hai. Ab hai jo hai wo sama hai. Tum reh sake” did manage to impress us, but the further lyrics “Aisi zindagi hum chip chipaye. Hum na aaye aaye aaye, hum na aaye” again left us confused.
The song’s music however is what brings its main flavour to the table. It’s a fairly slow track with a catchy beat going for it. The beat drops are also amazing, and manage to create the same magic that Udd Gaye had created.
Jeet is the first single from Ritviz’s upcoming album Ved. There’s still no word on when it will be released entirely, but we do know that we’re awaiting it with bated breath. With its debut single sounding so promising, there’s no doubt that that the entire album is going to be excellent.
