As the release date of the much delayed Saaho approaches, its makers have ramped up their efforts to generate buzz for the film. They have now launched the second song from its soundtrack in the form of ‘Enni Soni,’ which has been composed by Guru Randhawa. The video of this track is live now on the T-Series YouTube channel, and showcases the romance between Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor.

What’s completely unexpected is how average the song is. Guru Randhawa has this distinct ability to release excellent songs and follow them up with cringy, mediocre ones, and this one falls in the latter league. ‘Enni Soni’ is touted to be the love anthem of this year, but there’s nothing remotely memorable about it. It sounds like an amateur singer’s poorly created showreel, and makes you wonder how it managed to make the cut for the soundtrack of such a huge film.

Guru Randhawa’s voice too sounds like he’s being forced to sound romantic. Tulsi Kumar does a good job with the vocals, but there’s nothing she can do about the average nature of the song. Its lyrics too have been written by Guru Randhawa, and there’s so much lack of effort here that you can predict what the next line is going to be after one is uttered. Take these lines for instance – “Aankhon mein tujhko main, apne basa loongi. Tu chaahe ya chaahe na, tujhe apna bana loongi.”

The first song from the soundtrack of Saaho wasn’t nearly as bad. The EDM-inspired Psycho Saiyaan has at least some heft to it, and can really breathe some like into a party with its high-intensity music. Directed by Sujeeth, Saaho has been made on a budget of more than Rs 300 crores. It stars Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor, and has been shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, though a Malayalam dubbed version is also on the cards.

After a number of delays, Saaho has been granted an August 30 release date. Let’s see if they finally stick to this one now.
