Anurag Singh’s upcoming directorial, Kesari, starring Akshay Kumar is making quite a buzz. The first song from the period war film titled Sanu Kehndi,has been released and the track showcases the fun bonding between the 21 men who fought the Battle of Saragarhi.

Kesari will see Akshay and Parineeti Chopra being paired together on screen for the first time. Akshay who impressed his fans and the audience with his films last years, is all geared up for his role as Havildar Ishar Singh. Akshay fits the role perfectly and he looks believable and real. Kesari is based on the true story of the Battle of Saragarhi, in which 21 Sikhs fought fearlessly against 10,000 Afghans in 1897.The war happened on September 12, 1897, and is considered by historians as one of the last greatest battles fought.

Sanu Kehndi , the song from Kesari has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi, written by Kumaar and sung by Romy and Brijesh Sandilya. Director Anurag Singh said that Sanu Kehndi displays the bond that these 21 guys share and they just wanted to show them having fun before things get serious. The soldiers are seen having a good time and acting goofy with each other. They seem to be enjoying themselves dancing and merrymaking!

Did you know that the British government had conferred the highest battle honour of ‘Indian Order of Merit Grade II’ to these martyred soldiers. The story of their bravery has has been written about in several books.This is not the first time someone has attempted to make a film about their bravery but there were two Hindi films on the Battle of Saragarhi which were in the pipeline. Ajay Devgn announced in 2016 that he was making Son Of Sardaar and there was another movie by Rajkumar Santoshi on the same starring Randeep Hooda. However, both films were shelved.

Kesari has been jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.The film has been reportedly made on a budget of Rs 60 crore. The movie will hit the theaters on 21 March.
