If you have watched the trailer of ‘Kedarnath’ already, then you’ll know that Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan look a cute couple in the movie. After the devotional song “Namo Namo” that featured the long line of devotees making a journey to the spiritual land of Kedarnath, the music team has now brought out a fun but different kind of a wedding song that is just perfect for those in love during the upcoming wedding season.

The storyline focuses on the love story of Mukku who falls in love with Mansoor on the pilgrimage of Kedarnath, and how their love is tested in the background of religious differences, familial disapproval and the Uttarakhand floods of 2013. However, “Sweetheart” is a happy love song sung by Dev Negi, lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by Amit Trivedi. The song is set in the background of a Muslim wedding ceremony, and Sushant takes the opportunity to sing a song for his beloved. We already got a glimpse of Sara’s gorgeous look in this song before it was released. Can anyone recognise the similar situation in the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer “Banno ki Saheli” from ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ – Banno’s wedding ceremony, the shararas, the blushing bride?

Coming back to “Sweetheart”, the poetic language describes the beauty of the beloved by referring to her ‘eyes like the star’, ‘beautiful face’ and how gorgeous she looks in her outfit as she sits beside the bride. Though these comparisons have described women’s beauty since times immemorial, who doesn’t like to be wooed in such a way?

On the other hand, Mukku does stand out in the midst of darker colors in her yellow sharara-suit. Though she has a short dance shot in the interlude, she conveys most of her love for Mansoor through her eyes. The music is similar to ‘Queen’s “London Thumakda” since it is a North Indian wedding (or rather mehendi) song in its folk background score, and somehow you don’t want the song to end. We are eagerly waiting for the full version of the song, and it’s no wonder that “Sweetheart” is currently trending on YouTube.

‘Kedarnath’s “Sweetheart” is a love song that speaks about Mansoor’s love for Mukku (and vice versa), and it’s definitely a thumbs-up for the next wedding party.
