The Mercury Song Is The Title Track from The Silent Movie Mercury

Watch Prabhudeva groove to the mercury song, the title track of Mercury

Karthik Subbharaj is already a favorite household name in the South. He has emerged to be one of the greatest and most talented directors of Indian cinema who has also cultivated his very own niche audience especially after the movie Iraivi. Almost all his movies have done overwhelmingly well at the box office.

He has taken to the social media recently to announce the release of his upcoming silent movie: Mercury on the 18th of April. The post said, “A silent thriller, My fourth feature film as writer-director is all set to rise and am so excited to show it to you all…A no language film releasing in all languages on Friday the 13th April 2018.”

Leaving aside the uncanny undertone carried by Friday the 13th, we are excited to the first song, its title track named “The mercury song” was released a few days ago. The theatrical trailer is yet to release but the makers have released one of the songs. This song features Prabhudeva and has been sung by Haricharan and Gajendra Verma. The song essentially functions as a theme song for the movie which is a silent thriller. Producer Jayantilal was keen on one. The song is unique and completely out of the box. It features Prabhudeva was no doubt a great choice.

The phenomenal music has been composed by Mithoon and the lyrics have been written by Sayeed Quadri. The video is set at a nightclub and the dance steps are extremely quirky in keeping with the beats of the song. Mithoon had come up with “Mercury Sa Tera Pyaar” which was further developed by Sayeed Quadri. The music video itself has a certain eerie, raw and intense vibe which has accentuated the curiosity amongst the movie buffs for sure.

The essential mood of the song carries dark undertones. The movie is based on the tragic death of 84 people due to mercury poisoning. The composer has done a good job in aligning the thematic relevance of the song with the entire movie. The intensity of relationships is adequately described in this super lengthy song. But Prabhudeva’s dance moves are so delightful, sitting through those 8 minutes won’t be a problem at all.
