Veere Di Wedding, the upcoming Bollywood movie is a coming of age story, focusing on the lives of four childhood buddies Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor), Avni (Sonam Kapoor), Meera (Shikha Talsania) and Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar). The trailer has already created a wide anticipation among audiences for the film. After all it is not every day that we get to see women-centric movies, that too this high-spirited and cheerful.
Just like the movie’s theme itself, the music of Veere Di Wedding too seem to be a tribute to friendship. The song Veere, especially, has been attributed the title of “a celebration of friendship” by many. A shorter version of the song was first uploaded on the YouTube channel of Zee Music Company on 15th May but the whole song is available for streaming and downloading on different platforms including Saavn, Wynk and Amazon Prime Music.
The song has been rendered by a host of talented vocalists, namely, Vishal Mishra, Aditi Singh Sharma, Iulia Vantur, Dhvani Bhanushali, Nikita Ahuja, Payel Dev and Sharvi Yadav- all of their voices lending the song a mixture of upbeat and emotional quality at the same time. Composed by Vishal Mishra, the song has a certain simplicity to its chord progression, which goes very well with the whole message of the lyrics. Penned by Anvita Dutt, the song speaks of growing in friendship together, of mistakes made, forgotten and forgiven and of a togetherness so beautiful that it makes one want to pause the course of time, just to live it a little more.
Produced by Himonshu Parikh, the song, in its arrangement is pure EDM and has an upbeat hook, making it a perfect jam for casual parties or perhaps a long drive with friends. The music video is actually a montage of bits taken from the movie, highlighting moments of love, bitterness, nostalgia between the four friends. But the underlying warmth of all these moments, that any girl with true friends would recognize, are beautifully portrayed through the scenes where the characters are seen encouraging, teasing and joking among themselves, each of them emitting a comfort by just being around each other.
