The Bollywood industry is full of fascinating movies. Few movies entertain the hell out of you, while few leave you in tears. But then, there are always those that leave you with a lot to think about. Sometimes movies end up teaching you few very valuable life lessons. Here’s a small list of movies that taught us really important relationship lessons.

Jab We Met – Respect Is Just As Important As Love

Love is important in a relationship but it will never be enough without respect. If you do not respect your partner, your love will not make them stay. In the movie Jab We Met, Geet (Kareena Kapoor) picks Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) instead of the love of her life- Anshuman (her ex-boyfriend played by Tarun Arora). This decision is of great significance. She taught us that you cannot be with someone who makes you feel bad for the way you are, someone who doesn’t respect you.

Wake Up Sid – It’s About The Little Things

It’s true that grand gestures make you feel really good but at the end of the day, it is the little things that matter in a relationship. When you miss your partner, it is not the huge surprise gift that you miss. In fact, you miss the smaller experiences of life like cooking together, waking your partner up, having the morning tea together and so on. Sid (Ranbir Kapoor) and Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma) of Wake Up Sid taught us this lesson when they realize their feelings of love after getting apart.

Kapoor And Sons – The Importance Of Communication

This is one of the best movies made on family dynamics. It teaches us how it is your family that sticks with you till the very end. And then, throughout the movie it highlights the importance of communication. It tells us how it is important to talk and sort things out with people you love. The movie shows how honest communication is the only way towards a healthy relationship. Arguments and fights are inevitable part of a relationship, but talking, forgiving and moving on is the way to go!

Barfi – Sometimes, Walking Away Is The Only Way

There’s nothing wrong in walking away from a relationship. You must keep yourself in priority and do whets best for you. Because, ultimately that’s also the best for both of you! At any moment, if you feel like things aren’t working out and moving apart is the wise decision, just go for it! In the movie, Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor) and Shruti (Ileana D’Cruz) share their first kiss in the silence of the night and realize they are in love. But later on when he comes to know of her fiancé, he decides to walk away. He understands that they are not meant to be together and expresses that to her before leaving.

Watching movies just for the sake of entertainment is fine. But what’s the harm in learning a thing or two while doing that? Right?
