Break Up And Social Media – The Do’s and Dont’s

Had a breakup? What To Do and NOT To Do on social media

Admit it – breakups were much easier before social media chose to connect us with our significant others in every possible virtual space, right?

All you had to do was not take those calls and stop messaging each other, and you would be good to move on. But how do you get over a breakup when both you and your now-ex are on social mediaand most likely share common friends too?

Before you do something really uncool just on the excuse that you are going through heartbreak, take those fingers off the keypad and read this instead!

First, the DO NOT

The words ‘silly ex’ by Kangan Ranaut on a public platform threw the Hrithik-Kangana feud out of control.

DON’T update your status message on social media or even on messaging profiles to show that you have broken up and are hurt.

DON’T write tweet or write things to purposely hurt your ex, or to show them in a negative light. This will only make you look like a spiteful bag of not-so-good things, so AVOID.

When drunk, DON’T touch your phone, and definitely don’t open any social media sites. Absolutely NOT.

DON’T write personal comments on your ex’s pictures or social media content.

STOP stalking them through your screen.

DON’T share your pictures online only to make your ex jealous. More than anything else, sharing intimate pictures can also get you in trouble.

DON’T try to convince yourself that this is just a game your ex is playing and that you guys are still actually together. OR, DON’T try to break up only to make your ‘partner’ feel jealous or to give yourself more importance.

Now, the DO

UNFRIEND them immediately from ALL SITES.

DELETE their number, or better still, save it as DON’T ANSWER THIS CALL.

DELETE all images from your phone that remind you of your ex.

Keep some things private, such as why you guys broke up, who initiated it, why you can’t be together and so on. It’s good to talk to friends, but it’s also good to keep some things to yourself.
