Film Studio, Mumbai

Produces more than 100 movies a year

Film City, Mumbai is where almost all Bollywood movies have been shot at least in some parts, if not on a large scale. Visit filming locations which include a helipad, a temple, known locations. You may even see a shooting in progress if possible. It produces more than a 100 movies a year across 16 studios and across 42 outdoor shooting locations.

Atlas Film Studios, Morocco

The largest film studio in the world

Loved the Star War sagas, The Mummy series, Alexander The Great and other such movies involving the desert and dust? Then head to the largest film studio in the world. It has a huge colosseum where the movie Gladiator was filmed and you can also check out the huge Egyptian-styled statues that guard the make-believe tombs.

If you are you a Harry Potter fan you can take a close look at the sets, costumes and props that were part of the movie series. See Hagrid’s motorcycle, Nimbus 2000, go inside Dumbledore’s office and take a walk through Diagon Alley. You can also take a look at the special effects and the technicalities involved in making the films.

Europe’s largest movie studio where classic movies such as Ben Hur, Cleopatra and La Dolce Vita were shot. Walk through the spots where icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor once walked in this larger than life space that was built in the 1930s by Benito Mussolini. Check the Cinecitta Shows Off exhibition for a cinematic history experience complete with costumes and sketches and see a reconstruction of the Broadway set that was used in the Martin Scorsese movie Gangs of New York.

Produced props for Hobbit and Lord of The Rings

All Hobbit or Lord of The Rings fans should visit the Weta Workshop, a props and special effects company which has produced costumes, props and sets for various movies involving sci-fi and special effects scenes. Take a tour through the workshops and see how things are made in real.
