The Tiger Hill is a popular attraction in Darjeeling. And every year, many travellers strike this Queen of the Mountains off their bucket list. But over time, Darjeeling has become quite crowded for some. So many flock there every year, that you cannot take one picture without being photobombed.

A small hamlet, at the foot of the famous Tiger Hills, Rangaroon offers an amazing view of the Kanchenjunga mountains. You can lose yourself in its simplicity and rustic charm.

Even the British seem to prefer this place. They established tea estates, where even today, you can hike to get some fresh air, and relax on a balmy afternoon. The River Rungdong takes a turn towards the valley below at Rangaroon. You can also hike upto the river for a pleasant walk through the forests.

Witness the grandeur of British architecture by visiting the Old colonial bungalow. It was built by a German native, Frederic von Frostmann between 1860-1870. The bungalow has been renovated a number of times, but the original structure remains the same. You can get a view of the British architectural styles, a collection of old and rare paintings and the well-manicured garden.

Rangaroon is a haven for bird watchers and ornithologists. The place boasts of around 50 species of Himalayan birds like the Niltava, minivets and spotted eagles.
