Telling your boss that you want to quit or are planning a job change can give rise to a variety of reactions, from tearful meetings to hurtful bosses. It is never easy to tell them that you have priorities beyond your present job, and your goals do not really align with theirs.

Do not try to blindside the boss by being vague in the conversation. Lead how the meeting goes. You should be honest about the answers you give to questions regarding your next job. You can be brief, and need not give all the details, but avoid trying to be to smug about your future prospects. You should also have clarity regarding the reasons you are leaving, because a convincing conversation is important.
End Things On A Good Note
This may not be the end of your professional relationship. You might need a future reference from him or her, or might even considering returning to the organisation. Whatever may be the case, the world of work has become small with networking. And it is better to resign with a good rapport with your boss. There are plenty of ways to remain connected.
