Khanvilkar was born on 23 November 1984 in Pune, Maharashtra to Raju and Gauri Khanvilkar. She began her acting career through the reality show “India’s Best Cine Star ki Khoj” in 2004, but was eliminated in the final round. She took this as an opportunity to bag a role in the Marathi movie “Golmaal” (2006), playing the double roles of Purva and Apurva. She entered Bollywood with Manoj Tyagi’s “Mumbai Salsa” (2007) as Neha, but could not establish herself as a lead actress. Soon, her career picked up and she started getting offers from various Marathi and Hindi movies such as “Phoonk” (2008), where she was nominated for the Award of “Exciting New Face” by Max Stardust Awards (2009).

After her brief period in Bollywood, she went back to work in regional cinema and earned a lot of love and respect from her audience. She made a comeback in Bollywood in an item song appearance in “Dhoka Dhoka” for the movie “Himmatwala” (2013), but went back to working for Marathi cinema for a long time after that.
