After the huge success of the first two movies of the Munnabhai franchise, it is only expected that they will make comeback with its third installment. The word has been in the air since a long time now but had died down when nothing eventually materialized. But the good news finally arrived for the fans of Munnabhai, as Rajkumari Hirani, the director of both the previous Munnabhai movies spilt the beans about the latest movie during a press conference of Sanjay Dutt’s comeback movie Bhoomi.
According to reports the third movie of this franchise will go on floors this year, as soon as the Sanjay Dutt biopic is wrapped up. The director, Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra have finalized a concept already and they are ready to discuss it with Sanjay Dutt soon.

Sanjay Dutt, who has already completed his jail term earlier in this year, is expectedly very excited about the project, and understandably so since the 2003 movie Munnabhai MBBS and its 2006 sequel Lage RahoMunna Bhai were the two very successful movies of his almost three-and-a-half-decade old career. It was Dutt who was actually asked the possibility of a new installment of the Munnabhai series during the press conference of Bhoomi but he quickly reverted the question to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who then explained that they have been working on developing the script for a long time now and hence the delay.
And now reportedly, they finally have settled with a script that they had been waiting for, something that can match up to the level of the previous two movies, and perhaps even surpass them. The word in the air is that the name of the new movie might be “Munnabhai Chale Amerika”. This could be a tentative title, as there is no reliable statement or proof to sufficiently support this rumor.

Since both Hirani and Chopra have been working on this movie for apparently no less than three years, one can expect unpredictable twists in the plot, as has been their USP for the past two movies. But what is more exciting is that along with Munnabhai Sanjay Dutt, the crowd favorite second lead of the movie, Circuit is also reportedly coming back with this third movie. Arshad Warsi, who has played the role of Circuit in the last two films, told reporters that he is very excited to return again to play the character and that he found the script of the movie both funny and relevant.
Looks like, it is a good time for Sanjay Dutt’s career, after his forced hiatus due to his imprisonment. His fans are already eagerly waiting for his biopic Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor as him. And this news just adds the cherry on top.
