Politics and Bollywood make for an extremely entertaining combination. Of course, it is never easy to portray a politician’s life on-screen without any controversies.

Although, this year seems to be big in terms of the political genre. We are about to see films based on some big names and it couldn’t get any more exciting.

Yesterday, the first look posters of actor Vivek Oberoi as Prime Minister Narendra Modi were released. The actor has received the role of his life considering how the Indian PM has been one of the most discussed personalities in the Indian political system. The movie is going to be massive and will be released in over 23 languages. The film is being directed by Omung Kumar who previously made biopics such as Sarbjit and Mary Kom.

The Most Controversial Upcoming Release Is The Accidental Prime Minister

The film is up for release in a few days and has been one of the most talked about films of the year. Based on policy analyst Sanjaya Baru’s tell-all book exploring Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure as the Prime Minister of India. Actor Anupam Kher has truly gone under the skin of this character and the makeup department has worked at their best to make him look a spitting image of the former PM. The film has received a lot of criticism from Congress party calling it the ruling party’s propaganda.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Bal Thackeray Biopic

Titled Thackeray, a bilingual film on the life of one of the most famed politicians of his time, Balasaheb Thackeray. Based on the life of the founder of Shiv Sena, Nawazudding Siddiqui will be seen playing the title role. An initial trailer of the film was released recently and it is astonishing to see Siddiqui catch the Marathi accent so well. The film’s content although has raised eyebrows considering the casteist comments. The film has been directed by Abhijit Panse and is set to hit the screens on January 25th this year.

NTR Biopic Is Another Biggie On The Life Of Actor-Turned-Politician’s Life

Though not exactly a Bollywood film, the NTR biopic; N.T.R. Kathanayakudu depicts the life of actor-turned-politician N.T. Rama Rao and we have Bollywood actress Vidya Balan play an important role in the film. The politician’s son Nandamuri Balakrishna will be seen playing the lead whereas other big stars such as Vidya, Rana Daggubati and Nithya Menen will also be seen in the film. The film will be released in two parts, among which the first one will be dealing with his acting journey and the second part will trace his political career.
