Want To Dance Like Karisma Kapoor?

Karisma Kapoor and dance numbers with cringy one lines are synonymous. Some of her dance numbers like the one in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, where she competes with the dancing queen Madhuri Dixit is something that everyone remembers, but some of the numbers she danced on could have come under the scanner of feminists today! However, Karisma was brave enough to do these dance numbers.

Take a look to know why!

Jungle Hai Aadhi Raat Hai

Jungle Hai Aadhi Raat Hai from the movie Biwi No.1 had Karisma Kapoor romancing Salman Khan. Firstly the movie was about a woman who forgives her husband for infidelity and is determined to win him back from the other woman! Secondly, the song is picturised in a jungle.and the song has lyrics that has Karisma ask Salman “Jungle mein “Jungle hai aadhi raat hai lagne laga hai dar Duniya ko bhool jaaon kuch aisi baat kar,” to which Salman replies, “Darnewali kya baat hai jab saath mein hai dilbar Aaja meri baahon mein so ja rakh ke sar.” Like seriously? What if a wild animal was to attack? What would one do with the head on his baahon?

Sarkai Lo Khatiya

This song from Raja Babu that goes; “Sarakaaye liyo khatiya jaada lage jaade mein balama pyaara lage sarakaaye liyo takiya jaada lage jaade mein balama,” was said to be a superhit during its time. The song was full of double meanings but Karisma did brave the song and it went on to become one of her most loved hits.

What Is Mobile Number

If any man dared to sing this song from Haseena Maan Jaayegi today, Haseenas would take off their chappals and teach them a thing or two! In the song, Govinda is seen asking Karisma, “What is mobile number? What is your smile number? Karni hai private baatein. What is your private number?”

Baby Baby Mujhe Log Bole

This song came at a time when people in our country were not ready to hear the sex word in Hindi films. It’s a different story today when we not only hear the sex word rampantly in our films, but we also have sex scenes being passed by the censor board! This song from Khuddar was actually written as “Sexy Sexy Sexy Mujhe Log Bole,” but later had to be changed to “Baby Baby Baby Mujhe Log Bole.” There are unbeliveable lines that go like ; “Mama miya alha alha ye kya kiya, mujhko beautiful banake tenson kyu diya. Sala mai to pagal hogayi itni sexy hokar, apni hi jawani se haye ab lagta hai dar.”

Gone are the days when actors blindly pick up and dance to songs that have such lyrics, some which blatantly objectify women. Thank God ! cinema is changing and directors have stopped demanding for such numbers and writes have stopped writing such numbers too!
