While her husband Akshay Kumar has given several back-to-back hits in his career, Twinkle Khanna is very comfortable with the fact that she was never a good actor. Unlike many actors who fail to see that they were never born to act,Twinkle realises that acting is not her cup of tea. Twinkle, who has had a short career in Bollywood, has no qualms in admitting that she failed as an actress.
Born to actor parents, Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna, Twinkle too started off as an actress then went on to become an entrepreneur and today she is one of the most loved authors. Her books and column are loved by all and this Mrs Funnybones surely knows how to tickle your funny bones! She’s sassy, witty and has an amazing sense of humour. It takes great courage to laugh at oneself and Twinkle does that all the time! She has no regret that she failed as an actress and is always very vocal about it. What I love about her is her positive attitude and the ability to laugh at herself and move on and find something much better to do even if you’ve failed at something. Maybe some of the failed actors could learn a thing or two from her, instead of putting us through an ordeal with their pathetic acting! They need to learn that they could be better at something else and move on.
At the book launch of her latest book; Pyjamas Are Forgiving, Twinkle was asked why she stopped acting and her answer to that was epic. She started singing “Mela Dilon Ka Aata Hai” and then said; “That’s why I don’t act!” referring to her disaster film Mela.
Twinkle admits that becoming a writer was a wise choice for her. Even her husband Akshay Kumar once roasted her on the same.
Twinkle did around 25 films but none of the films were a hit. In fact, she’s one person who can joke about it and say that marriage happened because of her flop acting career!
Time and again Twinkle has admitted that she doesn’t like watching her own films.
Even though Twinkle might not have made her mark as an actress, she’s a favorite when it comes to endorsing products. She’s been the face of beauty, jewelry and consumer products.
It takes guts to be as open and optimistic as Twinkle Khanna!
