You can now order food with Facebook

Social media giant Facebook recently launched the service to order food for its user initially.

Social Media obviously I can’t cook for us but it can be a window to those scrumptious recipes, those avid reviews about your favorite eating zone and a genuine food guide. And recently our favorite social media platform Facebook launched a new service of ordering food through its platform.

You can now use Facebook to order food for takeout or delivery using both the Facebook mobile app and website. Facebook announced the launch of this new service on October 2017 targeting the massive food and restaurant industry thriving online. At present this service is available only for the US users. The Indian Facebook user will have to wait for a while before this service is rolled out here.

Unlike other food ordering services available online, Facebook has partnered with existing services like GrubHub, Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow, Zuppler, EatStreet, Slice, and Olo in the US. They have linked up these food ordering businesses for restaurants that support them.

You have to go to the “Order Food” section of Facebook under the Explore section. Just find your favorite local eateries you desire, and press “start order.” In case, a restaurant supports more than one ordering services, you’ll be able to choose between them.

Once you have placed an order, the Facebook will pop open an in-app browser that will take you to existing websites available for order. This is the place where the entire ordering thing is happening in reality. So with this new feature you are not just ordering food, you are doing so much more than finding a restaurant or selecting a favoured delivery option.

The best thing for Facebook users is that they can order food without having to leave the Facebook profile. Besides, the option also looks good given to the fact that everything appears at one place.

Alex Himel, Facebook’s VP of local, said in a press release “We’ve been testing this since last year, and after responding to feedback and adding more partners, we’re rolling out everywhere in the US on iOS, Android and desktop. People already go to Facebook to browse restaurants and decide where to eat or where to order food, so we’re making that easier.”
