The Italian frozen dessert is known as Gelato. It is made of sugar and milk, mixed with a variety of flavours. Its texture is more dense and flavourful as compared to normal ice cream. While Southern Italy is famous for fruity lighter variants called Sorbetto, Northern Italy on the other hand is known for its thicker dairy variants. Gelato is one dessert for the fitness freaks who love ice cream. Unlike ice cream it has lesser fat content as there is no cream in its ingredients. No matter if it is the coldest winter or warmest summer people always indulge in a good scoop of gelato!

Cannoli is an Italian dessert, comprising cream wrapped in a crisp pastry shell. Originating from the southern side of Italy, the Cannoli has become a staple dessert all over Italy and America. The outer pastry is made into tube shaped shells and fried to a crisp perfection. It is then stuffed with sweet creamy filling. The original dessert has a creamy ricotta stuffed within but with the ever changing taste a variety of flavours have emerged. The most popular Italian dessert is the Tiramisu. The name of this dessert means “Pick me up” referring to the presence of caffeine in the mixture. It’s a heavenly combination of layers of sweet mascarpone, finger biscuits dipped in liquor, cocoa and espresso. The dark strong presence of coffee and the richness of cocoa powder contracts with the light flavours of mascarpone. Nowadays you find a variety of tiramisus ranging in terms of the flavour additions and shapes and sizes. Even though till date the debate of its origin is ongoing, this fluffy rich light and flavourful dessert is irresistible.
