This cafe in Ahmedabad is one that might just give you the creeps. The New Lucky Restaurant, also popularly known as the Grave Yard Restaurant, is built at an old cemetery where the coffins are sealed off by iron grills but are inside the restaurant. The graves are said to have belonged to the followers of some Sufi saint from the 16th century. It’s like the living dining with the dead. The graves are unusually painted bright green and every morning a rose is placed on these graves by the attendants of the restaurant. More than the food, it’s this ambience and the curiosity that drives people to this restaurant. The late artist, M F Hussain, was said to be a regular here and has even gifted a painting which is proudly placed on the wall of the restaurant. The owner of the restaurant Krishnan Kutti says the graves have been lucky for him and draws a lot of customers.
