Bhopal is a foodie’s delight, the restaurants in Bhopal have a variety to choose from. From the spicy kebabs and tikkas to the variety of sweets, you might just be spoilt for choice. It’s no wonder then that one of India’s finest chefs Vicky Ratnani was in Bhopal recently to judge a contest. He also made time from his busy schedule to go and explore some quaint little eating joints around Bhopal and exclusively shared the details with HFT. Here’s a list of place you must eat at when in Bhopal:

Surendra Jain’s Stall

If you are anywhere near Jama Masjid, dropping by at Surendra Jain’s Stall for the Barfi Rasmalai is a must. It is something that is very unique of this place and probably not served anywhere else in the country. It’s a whole lot of crushed ice heaped up in a drona (a bowl made of dry leaves), he then generously tops it with rabri and pours some rose water and flavoured syrup on it. I am sure you’ve never tasted anything like that before.

Sagar Gaire Fast Food Corner

This place has a story straight out of a Bollywood blockbuster. The owner of this eatery, also known as Cycle Soupwala came to work and Bhopal from Nepal. He started selling soup on his cycle to make ends meet and today he owns a chain of eateries all across Bhopal. There is a lot more than soup that is served at his restaurants but soup is something you must not miss here.

Raju Tea Stall

Another place that Chef Vicky says that one must try in Bhopal is Mamaji Jalebiwale. He told HFT that he had the most amazing breakfast at this place. The place is around 40 years old and every morning there are about 600 people eating breakfast here and almost over 1000 people through the day. The speciality here is the Jalebi Rabdi and Poha(beaten rice).

Jameel

The kebabs at Jameel will make you drool for more. Located at the very busy area of Ibrahimpura, the succulent kebabs made at Jameel are to die for. Their mutton stew and egg curry is a must try too. The best part is it doesn’t leave a hole in your pocket.

I think I am heading to Bhopal soon!
