Sattu, or roasted gram (chana) is a staple ingredient in East India, and is eaten frequently in the states of Bengal, Bihar and Assam. It is a powerhouse of energy and protein. It is made mixing the sattu atta, water, some sugar or jiggery and some kala namak or black salt.

Panakam is a very common summer drink during Ram Navmi in South India. It is prepared using some lemon juice, jaggery, ginger powder, cardamom powder and black pepper. You can also add some tulsi leaves. Soaked jaggery is mixed with the other ingredients and this cooling and delicious drink is made.
