Everyone including me and my entire khandaan was eagerly waiting for the fourth instalment, of the Golmaal series, Golmaal Again, as we’ve loved watching the previous Golmaals too. Golmaal Again carried an extra burden of being a whole lot madder and even grander than the previous parts and the audience too had great expectations from it. The film has managed to carry that burden and how!
The film begins with a colourful song and moves on to a narration by a librarian played by Tabu, who’s a pleasant addition to the Golmaal cast. The famous gang of Golmaal, the gang of five, Gopal (Ajay Devgn), Madhav(Arshad Warsi), Laxman (Kunal Khemmu), Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) and Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), are orphans who were raised in an orphanage run by Seth Jamnadas. The actual plot begins when they return to the orphanage after 25 years to mourn the death of the man who raised them. That’s where they meet Damini (Parineeti) and Anna Mathew(Tabu), the librarian who possesses powers to talk to spirits and also see them. With the help of a ghost, a lot of things are revealed. To know more about what takes place after that, you have to go to the theatres and watch it yourself!
But what we can tell you is that Golmaal Again is a laugh riot right from the beginning to the end. If you watch the reruns of the previous Golmaal on television and still laugh at all the gags and dialogues every time you watch it, Golmaal Again is one step ahead of the rest of them. Each and every actor has done a great job and they are a delight to watch. The two new additions to the mad gang, Parineeti and Tabu are adorable. My favourite scene was the one where Tabu pretends to know how to ward off evil spirits, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long long time!
After all the pre Diwali cleaning and ‘completing work deadlines stress’, this was the best Diwali gift from the Golmaal gang, a movie that is a complete stress buster! Perhaps Aamir Khan too knew that Golmaal Again would overshadow Secret Superstar, no wonder then he requested for more screens for his small film.
I took my 13 year old along with me since she represents a generation who knows their minds and are not shy of being critical about what they don’t like. I asked her what she had to say about the movie after we were done watching, and this is what she said, “I could watch it all over again mom!” I second that! It’s a film that will leave you in splits and make you walk out of the theatre feeling happy. Go watch the film with your entire family.
And if you can’t decide between Golmaal Again and Secret Superstar, I’d say go for Golmaal Again,….again and again!! After all who needs logic, there’s already too much logic and tension in the world. Just go with the magic and laugh your heart out…Also laughter is great for health! wink
