For all those who’ve watched Tiger Shroff in Baaghi earlier, and were disappointed and not too keen to sit through Baaghi 2, I can totally understand the feeling. But surprisingly Baaghi 2 is not that bad. Tiger Shroff is promising and is well on his way to becoming the next big action hero in the Hindi film industry.
Baaghi 2 stays true to its genre. It’s an action thriller all the way. Baaghi 2 is a sequel to the 2016 film of the same name but that was directed by Sabbir Khan and Baaghi 2 is directed by choreographer turned director Ahmed Khan. The film is about a tough army officer, Ranveer Pratap Singh (Tiger Shroff) who goes to save his ex-girlfriend Neha’s (Disha Patani) little daughter from the hands of kidnappers.
The story sounds simple but there are many twists and turns to the story and surprises along the way and of course a whole lot of action! Disha Patani looks pretty but when it comes to performance and acting there is very little one can write about! Though is a scene or two one can see that she has tried to work hard on her acting skills, especially the scene where she feels totally dejected when Tiger too does not believe her story. For a moment your heart does go out to her character in the film.
There are other seasoned actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Deepak Dobriyal and Randeep Hooda in the film too and they do add to the ‘acting’ quotient in the film. Then there’s Prateik Babbar who plays a ‘charsi’ and somehow it makes you think maybe his older brother Arya Babbar would have looked the role more! (wink). The one who steals the limelight in Baaghi 2, is the little girl who plays Disha’s daughter, she is adorable! With a face like that anyone would want to turn the world upside down to save her. Credit goes to the casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who earlier cast child actor Harshali for Bajrangi Bhaijaan for the casting.He seems to have his way of discovering these little gorgeous bundles of talent!
There are many loopholes in the film but we weren’t expecting it to be perfect anyways were we?The action sequences have been brilliantly executed even though some of it is over the top.Technically and performance wise Baaghi 2 is far better than Baaghi. It’s perhaps because being an actor, choreographer, and director, Ahmed Khan understands the pulse of the audience better than Sabbir Khan did.
Tiger has gone all out to show his talent as an action hero, he could be the new generation, Akshay Kumar. When Akshay initially started out as an actor, he too was better known for his action than his acting, though over the years he has mastered the art of acting and how! Looks like it’s only a matter of time and one good break to turn the tables for Tiger too. Baaghi 2 already proves that he’s on his way there.
Baaghi 2 is watchable! Go watch it for Tiger Shroff!
