Sara Ali Khan To Star Opposite Ranveer Singh In Rohit Shetty And Karan Johar’s Simmba

Janhvi Kapoor and Priya Prakash Varrier were being considered for Simmba but Sara Ali is the Simmba girl!

 

Sara Ali Khan might not have had it smooth sailing with her debut film Kedarnath, which went through a rough patch since the film was embroiled in controversies because of a tiff between the director and the producer of the film. The film came to a standstill and there was curiosity about what would happen to the film, when the shoot would resume again etc. However as per reports all that has been sorted and the next schedule of the film is said to be in April. The release date, however, had to be postponed from December this year and the film is now said to release in 2019.

But luck seems to be on Sara’s side despite a bad start to her career, Sara has just bagged her second big film with none other than Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar’s Simmba. Sara will be playing the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh. Ranveer plays the role of a notorious cop named Sangram Bhalerao.

There were reports earlier that either late Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor or the girl who made waves with that famous wink; Priya Prakash Varrier was being considered for the same role. However, it is Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara who has been confirmed by the makers to play the female lead in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba.

A statement from Dharma Productions read, “After the release of the first poster which featured Ranveer Singh, there was immense curiosity on who would be cast as the film’s female lead. Now it’s confirmed. Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar have signed Sara Ali Khan for the film, which will be directed by Rohit. Sara will be seen opposite Ranveer, who plays the role of a notorious cop Sangram Bhalerao.”

Simmba is the official Bollywood remake of Jr NTR’s Telugu hit Temper. The makers apparently have bought the rights of Temper. This is the first time two of the industry’s biggest names; Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar are collaborating for a film. The film is presented by Reliance Entertainment and Simmba is slated to release worldwide on 28th December 2018.
