How To Tell Your Partner That They Stink

This smart trick can help, without raising a stink in the relationship

“Good manners and good cologne is what transfers a man into a gentleman” – Tom Ford

But what if your man, or your lady for that matter, hasn’t really come by this very profound statement made by Tom Ford?

They say that “Nothing in the world smells as good as the person you love” but what if the scent, or the ‘un’scent of that person is something that’s giving you the shivers?

Ever been in love with someone who, well, stinks?

Let’s put it this way.

You meet someone, go out on a few dates, and are taken in by the person and the way they smell (there’s good reason why some of the top brands offer you the best scents at ransom-ish) price. But what happens when you start spending more time with that person, and are always around, and can now smell the difference between the person you were dating and the person who is now off the dating mode but is in his or her more natural habitat, and that includes that body odour aura as well!

There’s no nice way to say it out loud, unless you’re just waiting to use it as an excuse to break up and run away.

If you’re planning to still be together and want to do this in a subtle yet effective way so that your partner understands it is important and is causing you trouble, try this one tip.

Get them the scent!

That’s all! What could be easier and more helpful to your battered nose than getting your partner a scent that you know you will love and can live with? Instead of outright telling your partner or the person you are dating that you feel they stink, it is best to get them something that will solve the problem, make them feel happy that you thought of them and got them a gift – see, you get to score brownie points even as you sort out an issue!

Also, because you gifted it, your partner will try and wear it more often and almost as many times as they are in that intimate zone with you.

And by the way, we’ve all smelt bad at some or the other time, so instead of pretending you never ever did, just make sure your bottle of fragrance is always at close hands (or even better, next time your partner gifts you perfume, take the hint!).
